The In-Between Method

A three-phase approach for people in the in-between.
Built to give you both clarity and a way forward.

Why this method exists

Most people come to this work after exhausting all other efforts, done with trying to think themselves through it.

Maybe what you tried before felt like a lot of talking with no clear direction in the end.

The In-Between Method is where understanding becomes action.

Phase 1

Mapping

Where you actually are.

In the first phase, we figure out where you're at and what's around you that's impacting you — so I can meet you there, and we move forward together.

What we explore:

  • Your emotional landscape — what you're feeling, what you're avoiding, what won't lift

  • Your body — how you're sleeping, eating, moving, and what your body's been signalling

  • Your environment — the spaces, people, and routines that shape your days

  • Your work and the roles you carry — how they're fitting, and what they're costing

  • The stories you've been telling yourself about who you are and what's possible

  • The parts of yourself you've been overriding

What you'll walk away with:

A clear picture of where you actually are — and a much sharper sense of what's been keeping you stuck and why.

Phase 2

Meaning

What it's been trying to tell you.

Once we can see the landscape clearly, we make sense of it. This is the deepest part of the work — and often the most relieving.

What we explore:

  • The patterns underneath the patterns

  • The values you've been living from versus the values you actually hold

  • The stories that need to be challenged — and the ones that need to be reclaimed

  • The shape of who you're becoming, separate from expectations

  • Small, everyday ways to begin considering yourself

What you'll walk away with:

A real understanding of what's been happening underneath, why, and what wants to shift. Not a five-step plan — something more durable: a felt sense of clarity you can stand on.

Phase 3

Movement

Building self-trust through action.

The final phase is where understanding becomes lived experience. We translate what you've learned into small, sustainable changes in your real life.

What we explore:

  • Small, repeatable practices that rebuild self-trust

  • How you eat, move, sleep, and care for yourself daily — as a foundation, not an afterthought

  • How to make decisions from clarity instead of panic

  • Accountability that supports you without pressuring you

  • Integrating the work so it stays after our sessions end

What you'll walk away with:

A clear sense of what you actually want — and the capacity to act on it. Built session by session, on a relationship with yourself that finally feels in tune.

What a session actually looks like

Sessions are 75 minutes, virtual, and structured around the phase you're working through. You always know what we're focused on, what tools we're using, and what you're walking out with.

A typical session might include:

  • Every session has a clear focus — no aimless circling.

  • Tools matched to your current phase — getting clear on what you actually want, looking at the stories that have been running you, finding ways to feel grounded on unstable ground, and designing small, doable steps that work for you.

  • Concrete takeaways — something to practice, a next step, or a piece of clarity you can act on this week.

  • Between-session work that moves the needle — reflections, prompts, or small experiments tailored to your current chapter.

  • Visible progress — we name and track what's shifted so you can see and feel the progress.

Because what comes next matters.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This work is right for you if...

  • You're open to looking beyond just the surface — at the pace that feels right.

  • You want depth AND direction — not just a place to air everything out.

  • You're willing to do small exercises in between sessions, because the real work happens while experiencing life.

  • You can commit to a 6 or 12-session process — because real change needs continuity.

  • You're ready to come back to what you actually want — even if you don't know what that is yet.

This work isn't a fit if...

  • You're looking for couples or family therapy.

  • You're seeking treatment for active addiction.

  • You want someone to give you the answers without doing the work outside of sessions.

  • If you're under 25 years old.

  • In acute crisis or need intensive mental health support as the primary focus.

If we are not a fit, I have trusted colleagues I am happy to refer you to.
